What is True Love?

January 16, 2010

This morning God reminded me that I cannot truly understand love until I understand Him.

I John 4:7&8 – Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. He who does not love does not know God, for God is love.

I love the fact that in the end love is all that matters. Love is the only thing that lasts. Everyday I am down on myself because I am not more knowledgable or because I am inadequate in some way, but God says –

“Love never fails. But whether there are prophecies, they will fail; whether there are tongues they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will vanish away. ” I Cor. 13:8

I need to be learning to love like God loves. This should be my greatest struggle. I want to be bold and love others the way He loves me!

I also love the fact that nothing, absolutely nothing seperates us from God’s love. What a foreign concept in a world of hate and divorce!

Romans 8: 38-39

For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come. nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing  shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

These are my life verses. Certain situations in my life have skewed my view of God’s love because of  Satan’s lies and human errors. These two verses remind me that God’s love is not in any way similar to a love this world can even begin to offer.
