Audrey vs. Avocado

September 29, 2012

Last night we began the solid feeding adventure. We chose to start with an avocado which is full of healthy unsaturated fats as well as important vitamins and minerals and is also easily made into a creamy texture great for a first food.

I am having a lot of fun making her food from home, it’s cheaper and better for her and as a stay at home mom I have no excuse not to do it even if it is a bit more time consuming.

Audrey was not quite sure what to think of the avocado puree. She made this face A LOT.Image

She was more interested in her new colorful bib than she was the food so we decided a naked baby would be best for the rest of the meal.

Ok so we were not totally prepared, but just couldn’t wait any longer so we decided to go for it and use a big spoon.  I am looking forward to the baby spoons that should be arriving in the mail tomorrow!

She was not very interested in the food unless she could feed herself, just a little independent don’t you think?

This was the face we saw the most. It was a fun and messy time for all. By the end we each had a little bit of avocado on us somewhere. Avocado’s are on the menu for the next 4 days and than we will be moving on to sweet potatoes!

I am learning a lot making baby food and I look forward to sharing my experience with you.

Moms, what was your babies first food? What are your opinions on solid feeding in the first year? I am still learning and would love to hear what your experiences have been!

This is hilarious, she clearly doesn’t like Avacados. I’m afraid she’ll never want to eat food again! Ha!
