Merry Christmas 2013

December 26, 2013

This year has been busy, and unfortunately I wasn’t super mom. I did not send out personalized Christmas greetings from the Blumer family, nor did I manage to seal an envelope filled with a page long newsletter describing each exciting adventure from the year 2013. Instead I am writing a short and sweet post here and It’s nearing 9 PM on the night of Christmas . I am winding down from a fun day filled with Family, gifts, good food, movies, crazy kiddos, and a little drama to keep it interesting of course.

We are so thankful to be ending this year with both of our families in South Carolina. This visit has really made us start thinking about moving back to the East Coast as soon as we can. Kids really change things, and family is more important than ever, more important than any adventures to be had in the great West.

This year has held a lot of changes for us. Rather than living in the middle of the wilderness 45 minutes away from a grocery store, we now live in the center of a town where Safeway is just a five minute walk across the street. Giles is still a law enforcement ranger for the National Park Service, but he now works at Coronado National Memorial where the border fence runs through the park so you can only imagine what much of his work involves. I have eased back into nursing school and have officially challenged into the program which I will begin in 2014. We also bought our first home together which we are so thankful for and have been enjoying it immensely. Audrey has grown up a lot and is amazing us every day with her new words and developing personality. I think we would consider this year and the year to follow a transitional period. We are looking at our options for the future, while we grow and develop as parents, home owners, an employee and student, and as husband and wife. We hold a lot of important responsibilities and are feeling more and more grown up each day. We are excited to have the future ahead of us and enjoy dreaming of where we will be in the next 5 years or so. Until then we are trying to make the best of each moment where we are now.

We hope your year was memorable and filled full of the important things in life, and of course Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
